Can you explain what you mean by a student visa. Do you mean that you are from overseas and are staying in the country under a fixed term visa?

Hi K.F,
How much debt do you have? Does this consist of a student loan? Please give us a little more information and we can advise you further.
Kind Regards

Sorry for coming back a bit late on the issue.
Melani Giles:

Answer: Yes I am from overseas and I am in the country under a fixed term visa, which gets renewed every year if I am still studying, which I am.

Answer: I have approximately £20,000 in debts. No it does not include any sort of student loans. All the outstanding balance is on 3 credit cards, 2 phone bills and one bank overdraft.

Hi kf
I would not have thought that a student visa would have affected your debt problems - assuming that you are a UK resident and have been in the country for more than 6 months.
In order to address your debts you could declare yourself bankrupt, enter into an IVA with creditors or offer a Debt Management Programme. I suggest that you take specialist advice with regard to your options.
