my husband and I are about £60000 in debt and we have a house with very little equity if not none.We have so far not defaulted on any loans or mortgage payment, but we are sinking. We are drawing money out of credit cards to see us through each month. we are now im a deficite every month of nearly £1000.We tried for a consoliddation loan of £60000 but was turned down because of the little equity in our house. We now don't know where to turn.please advise.

I was in exactly the same situation as you this time last year, sinking fast and paying all my bills with credit cards, I am now in an IVA and at least now I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
This Forum is great for advice and 'Welsh Boy' has given you the first good bit of advice, seek professional help, also use this Forum for advice, you wouldn't believe the number of people in the same situation as you, the knowledge base for debt related issues is massive.
You have taken the first step to a solution by admitting you have a problem, contact Melanie and I know she will give you the best possible advice.
You aren't alone, good luck and keep posting

Welcome to the Forum ras248,

Could you provide who your creditors are? What your monthly disposable income is (income minus general living expenses)? This would help to see if an IVA is a viable option for you.

It is always good to contact 2 or 3 companies so then you are assured that you have been given the right advice and that the option given is the best for you.

Best Regards,

There are literally 100's of people who use this site who have been in the same position as you and who have managed to come out the other side debt free.

There will certainly be a suitable debt solution available to you. I would reccomend that you contact 2-3 debt advice companies for advice or alternatively post some more details so we can try and help you on this site.

Best Regards
Oliver

Hi there

The other posters have given you good advice, and I do recommend you contact an insolvency practitioner to give you free initial advice as to your current circumstances. At this stage, additional borrowing is just likely to make your situation worse, so look at all of the options available to you and as Oliver says take a second and third opinion to compare the advice given.

Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner for over 20 years.

Hi there

Youre going crazy at the moment with worry and stress but as the others have said there will be an answer for you. All that I would say is try to be calm, take time to find the right solution for you, make sure that all the possible optians are explained fully and that you understand the committment and that its sustainable and reasonable. Its so easy to grab an offer of help with both hands when youre sinking.

You are amongst friends here who will want to help you and who have been where you are right now. The technical advice is excellent too. There is a web site Iva.com where you can find feed back on IP's and IVA companies.

Good luck
