Me again , I think some accounts only do a basic check to see that you are who you are, if they offer no credit, overdraft etc, then you do not need the good credit.

thanks for the reply, but, why are we being refused to open basic bank accounts if it is just a check to see if we are who we say we are?

I dont know suzz. Are you applying for a basic account not one with a cheque book or overdraft. Did you look at the thinkbanking, I know they accept you if you are bankrupt.

Hi everybody this question has been asked so many times but i need some help with my situation, we both need to open new bank accounts, we are at current with Abbey (who to put it plainly are useless)and my husband now needs to open a new business account so that he can have his wages paid into it, the company he works for are reluctant to pay into his ordinary bank account, hence he has to open a business account we have tried the following;-

Abbey Business account refused

Co-Op Basic Business account and cashminder basic account refused

Alliance and Leicester Same as above

Nationwide Same as above

can't try the following as creditors or related creditors;-

Natwest, Barclays, Halifax, Bank of scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland,

At wits end trying to get this sorted,

thanks suzz

All business bank accounts are credit scored ..... thats why you are having problems....

Do you know what is on your credit report

no but the letter back from abbey states it is declined because of adverse information by the credit reference agency, i feel i'm just hitting a brick wall every time, our iva paperwork is taking so long also (been at it since February) all we require is a basic business bank account to allow my husband to have his wages paid into, IS THERE SUCH A THING, we are trying not to incure any more expense so to try thinkbanking will cost us a further £25.00 pr mth for 2 accounts. ANYONE ANY IDEAS.

thanks suzz

I am not sure if Think is what you are looking for - had a quick look at there T&C's -

7) What if i'm self employed?

We can offer you a personal bank account but we do not offer business banking services.

Does your husbands employer want to see the account as him t/a business name or are you simply looking for an account so you can keep monies seperate ??

Hi have you been into the bank or just applied online only I moved my business acc to natwest when i knew i was gettin an iva as lloyds were one of my creditors. I have since moved it to barclays who are one of my creditors , but as i just have a basic business acc with no overdraft facility they agreed . I had to go into the bank to do it though as all my online applications were refused inc barclays!!

Hi storm my husband needs a business bank account for his employer the reason is somthing to do with the changes imposed in april 07 re tax and the old version of CIS (construction industy scheme).

Hi becky we have been into the various banks and spoken to people and explained that we want a simple and basic bank account/s with NO overdraft facility.

You will be able to get a basic personal account with THINK BANKING but as far as business accounts go I think,as Storm states, they are all credit scored. Can,t your husband just use a personal account ??
