when you take out an iva do i pay my mortgage as normal and they sort out the other debts.when you ask how much debts we owe do i have to include the mortgage debt aswell or just credit cards and loans

Hi mark you pay the mortgage as normal it is allowed for in your expenditure. The iva covers unsecured debts.

As Ang has stated you cannot include any secured debt or HP.

Your mortgage will need to continue to be paid as this debt will be secured against your home. All unecured debt can be included in your IVA proposal.

The reason for continuing to pay the mortgage is that, as a secured creditor, a mortgage company has the right to seek possession proceedings against the property if you miss three or more payments. As this will affect your home, you must budget for these payments to be made on time.
