At last got word from natwest they are giving me three accounts - Step S0lO , First reserve(savings) and ISA maxi account.

Have IVA with them, even though they did the credit report checks.

In process to open one with HSBO.Also in IVA with them in it. Now they don't check I believe as they want to see Hard copy IDs

Co-op account is in appeal - looks like they will agree. I know some people have been turned down.

Opening one with Yorkshire bank next week

That's all the accounts I will ever need plus my NW current account but no debitcard

Most of these accounts will be dummy accounts.Just need back up accounts. The HSBO,Natwest have Solo debit cards and Co op(electron...useless)
Yorshire bank have a Maestro - need this and then make my prepaid card obsolete

Will not ever need a Mastercard or visa debit in the UK..only abroad.

Sony - why so many ?

Why do you say the Visa Electron card is useless ?

Im BR so I have very little choice, but I find it easier to keep track if Im just working with one account .

Did you know that banks can remove money from you account without your permission if you owe them money ? Its quite legitimate .

You can't buy travel tickets on the Visa electron -GNER, SE Connex and Virgin trains don't accept it. Some airlines like BA don't take them?? You need a visa debit card to do that

Maestro/solo cards are virtually 100% domestic acceptance.

About the Banks and IVA - once your iva is agreed that debt matter is closed. They can't and wouldn't close your new basic account account....no legal grounds - Natwest did a credit check and OK it. what can I say.

I agree with Mish. I've got my Virgin pre-paid card in case of emergencies but I've had no problem with my Visa Electron.

I really wouldn't want so many bank accounts - I've got my Co-op one as my everyday account, the Nationwide one I opened when I went BR and I have just opened a Bradford and Bingley savings account.

I will carry on using my Co-op one for every day living, transfer half of my savings (car, medical, contact lenses etc) to the Nationwide account as it has a cash card and I can get the money out easily and the balance will go into the B & B account so that it's difficult to get to but there in case of emergencies.

I'm getting organised at long last!

Sk'
You be paying 2.95% on a transaction on that Prepaid vigin card..a Mastercard with worldwide acceptance certainly is. I didn't go for it.

A solo UK debit and maestro card is all you every need in the UK.

If I went abroad, would consider the Virgin or Sun prepaid card....

Try getting a Solo (which isn't accepted everywhere) or a Maestro when you're bankrupt!

Hi
Banks have a right to close an account, with notice,at any time.HSBC and First Direct have a policy of searching the insolvency register and closing peoples accounts if they find them in an IVA.
