Why are so many people unhappy with their companies?
As I gather there appears to be a lack of IVA companies returning the calls of people in IVA.
Proposing unrealistic proposals.
Possibly lack of a sympathic out look, this may have to do with the fact that their interest is leaned towards creditors to generate future acceptance of IVA proposals.

Hi
There may be some truth in your observations Hara, but what is clear is that communication in the larger companies is quite often appalling.
My advice would be to look for a small local company so that you can have a face to face meeting and build up a relationship. You need to be able to talk with your IP when needed and in a five year IVA you WILL have the need, believe me.

Dear Mr.Davie,
What you say about big companies appear to be true.It is a little late for me to look for a small company.
When you are being chased by creditors, you approach a company that appeals or recommended,as in my case by CAB.
I am paricularly unhappy that phone calls are not returned, despite a promise on the answering machine that theywould.
I have a bank overdraft included in IVA,but the bank still produces statements incurring charges and interest.
I have brought this issue with my usual repesenttives at the firm representing me,despite havig sent a copy of recent statements about 20 day ago and a promise that it would be sorted out,it hasnot been done and my phone calls have not been returned.
It is very sad, particularly as a cahrge is made for running an IVA.
I also had a meeting with my bank manager a month ago and gave copies of IVA documents.I expressed my intention to keep my account open, though I was promised a reply, it has not materialised.
As the bank overdraft is included in IVA, can I point out to Bank manager that it is illegal to produce such statements.

Hi
I would speak to the manager and ask him why he is adding interest and sending you statements when you are in an IVA.Suggest that he logs onto this site so that we can help him understand IVA's.
In reality the bank has been slow in updating your records

Hi Hara
It does sometimes take a while for the bank to sort itself out and send the info to the correct dept. This is the first month I havn't had a statement after being in an IVA almost 5 months! I think they have finally got the message!!
I sent info to my ip and requested they send the chairmans report out but I didn't hear anything back. In the end, I sent the report out to the card services dept. When the overdraft side called I finally spoke to someone willing to contact my ip themselves!
It's all been quiet for a couple of weeks so hopefully they have now got the message.

Dear all,
I have already given chairmans report to bank manager a month ago. A promised reply has not materialised.
In an era of electronic age such delays are un acceptable.
I do not think that the banks would be so slow if I had a few thousand pounds to invest.
I presume that they would be hounding me to deposit in their attractive paltry interest bearing accounts.
Hara.

I find this lack of customer service abhorrent; I sometimes see the excuse ‘they are very busy this time of year’ Lucky for them, get some more staff, ever heard of over trading…
If you suffer a material loss through the miscommunication or lack of communication from a company that is supposed to be dealing with your financial issues, and you are able to prove your attempts to communicate with them, you should be able to seek compensation for your loss.
You can in my industry through a formal complaint, is there not a formal complaint process that can be followed with IPs (factories or not)?

Hi Hara,
May we suggest that you give the CAB feedback of how the company they have recommeded are actually performing? We would be very interested in their response!

I love Andy's reply about getting the bank manager to log onto this forum! The forum has been a source of education for us for some while now ... perhaps we can also educate some of those financial 'professionals' out there as well ... they need it!!

Dear all,
I do not think bank managers would be too keen to log on, as they are too keen and busy chasing people with money.

A few weeks ago a retired bank manager told me that, when they hadn't quite reached their targets for "additional income" by the end of the month, they'd add on a stack of charges to customers they didn't like and who were insufficiently sharp to pick up on the undeserved charges.
Remarkable.

So the moral of the story is, always smile nicely when you go to the bank otherwise they will rob you blind.
