Hi hello everyone,

I am currently in £9000 of my own debt, I am unemployed to to personal problems, and my wife works fulltime and is at present supporting me and just covering my minimum payments. It is becoming a strain on her and I am considering bankruptcy. We rent a house and we have never been in arrears and not planning to so if I were to go Br would my landlord be contacted even if I owe him nothing. We are concerned we are not sure how it would go down if they were to find out. Appreciate anyone who has been Br and had similar circumstances to give advice.

Thanks Neil

Hi Neil
Welcome to the forum I am not an expert but just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

One possible way round the situation would be to transfer the tenancy into your wife's sole name and then the landlord would never know, but there usually isn't a problem with the existing landlord.

Best wishes

I recently went BR and live in rented accomodation. My OR told me that as long as I gave her a copy of my tenancy agreement, she would have no reason or need to contact the landlord, as the only usual reason is to get a copy of the contract.

It may be a regional thing, but I would guess you might be OK.

Hi there,

I have a tenacny agreement so hopefully that will enough to keep my landlord out of picture. We have only problems with my personal debt not regular household bills.

Thanks for Help
