I'm about £30K in debt on credit cards, loans and overdrafts. I am not a home owner and have no assets. I have basic pay (take home) £1300 plus bonus which can be anything from £0-£700, but I hate the job and I am getting extremly depressed.
Is BR an option for me as I need to move abroad for a new job/new life and I would have no disposable income, I already have the job offer, the pay is only £300.

Thanks

Phil

Hi phil and welcome to the forum

Bankruptcy is definately an option for anyone in debt, and may be your only option if you are going to accept such a low pay cut. It will cost you £485 to make an appropriate application at Court, and I would have a look at the Insolvency Service's web-site for further information on how to declare yourself bankrupt.

Hi Phil,

If you are moving abroad, I would think that bankruptcy would be a quicker way to deal with your debts. An IVA would only be a solution if you had a high disposable income.

If you are planning on accepting such a low paid position then I would suggest that Bankruptcy should be strongly considered as an option for you to resolve your debt problems.

Best Regards
Oliver
