Hello again, I have another topic to air...

I thought that it was only if you went BR that your financial situation became public?!?!?

So, what about the unsolicited mail I get in the post quite regular from third parties that seem to know my personal details and that I am in an IVA... I regularly get these IVA Newsletters and advice that they know I am in an IVA and how I might be able to get out of it if I have a mortgage!!! Well I do not have a mortgage and I am not in a position to own any property, difficult to own a pencil!

How do they know I am in an IVA? Is there a list that creditors or someone are sharing and tell third parties that we are all in IVA? Would it be something that the DMP or IP have us on a register somewhere? How the heck do they know? ...

Like I say, it is not just a circular, it is specifically knowing that I am on IVA... I just trash them when I get them now... such a waste of paper and postal resources too... I thought that maybe I would phone the originators (can't remember the name of the companies now, but will check next time they start rolling in), but if I call them, that just confirms to them I am in this position which is a private thing unless I have to BR...

Hi Dots

These people get your details from the Register of Individual Voluntary Arrangements which is held by the DTI. You can access this on the Insolvency Service's website by clicking the following link.

When I was on the register it showed the wrong IP and company! My original IP left a couple of months into my IVA and his name stayed on the register with his new company, even though I had a new IP!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

In saying that it is on public files I believe it is not readily known to the public so I would not worry to much!

The circulars that come through to me I do find interesting!

I just don't understand why all of a person's details need to be on the insolvency register - name, address, date of birth. What would happen if someone was trying to escape an abusive partner for example?

In the event of a domestic violence case, application could be made to the DTI to conceal the person's address and date of birth. This can only be done under very special circumstances, and clients would need to discuss this with their own IP or the OR at the time of their appointment if relevant.

To be honest i had been in my iva for almost 3 years before i found out about the insolvency register. If its not that well known to debtors its going to be just as unknown to others.
I suppose we all have to just grin and bear it

Hi all, I am not only on the register but i've been published in all my glory in the local paper!! I too expressed concern that they include not only name, address, date of birth but occupation too!!! But I spose I dont have to worry about identify theft, if someone wants to nick my life they're very welcome to it! Plus they'd never get any credit would they!!!

I am going to sneak out tomorrow and buy a local paper, I am afraid I may be in it under the bankruptcy notices[:0]

no, I am "Billy no-mates" at the moment! I do not work now so do not see anybody at all during the day. My only friend, who I used to work with, her husband died very recently so I will not talk to her about my probs!

I talk a lot to my cat, he's a good listener[:D],although he does not really say a lot!!!!!
