Mortgage after iva

Hi we have finished our IVA , received our certificate and finally been taken off the list

(9 years in total). We are wanting to either remortgage to do essential things in and around the house. Or if it is not much difference to look at selling and buying a new house. We have started building our credit record.
When we go to the meeting to ask about our options, will we be asked about the IVA and if not do we need to claim it ? Thanks in advance for any information

You are very likely to be asked about it and it is best to be honest ( they might already know the answer!).
I would suggest a chat with Ryan and / or Shaun, who are both whole of market brokers, from different firms, who have extensive knowledge of the adverse credit market and both have helped many forum members in the past.
Their details can be gleaned from the profile pages here:

I don't know who your appointment is with but do tread carefully. We have had a few instances where a broker, with less knowledge than they actually had, told the client all was well with an offer agreed in principle, only to have it turned down in the final stages.

Not knowing who your appointment is with it's difficult to comment but I'd certainly make sure that they have expertise in this area to avoid them burning any bridges through lack of knowledge. Unfortunately this does happen. If it's with a specific lender I'd be even more wary. If you are committed to going I'd find out what you can and then perhaps seek some other guidance before you proceed.....and certainly before you make any sort of commitment to any formal application.
