I completed my F&F IVA back in February . Having spoken to one of the very helpful Mortgage brokers who post on here he found me a very good deal for a remortgage. However I failed the credit check today as my credit files still show active defaults on my accounts. I contacted all the credit agencies when my IVA completed and sent them all copies of the paperwork to show my IVA had finished. How do I go about showing that the defaults were Satisfied, who do I need to contact ?

Although you did a full and final, does the iva not still show for 6 years on your credit records, albeit satisfied??
I am no expert though and I replied to b**p you back to the top of the board so an expert see's it.
Hope someone can answer for you soon x[:)]

hope somebody can answer your question soon!!
We have our creditors meeting on 28th, I sometimes wonder how we will stand when we have to try and release equity from our property in the 4th year, what happens if the bank/building society won't let us remortgage?

I know the IVA and the defaults stay on my file for the 6 years. Its just that the defaults are stilll classed as open and not satisfied. However my IVA shows as completed. The lender I was looking to remortgage with needs to see that there is no longer any money owing and that all defaults have been saitisfied.
Do I need to contact my creditors and ask them to do this (do they even have to show as saitsfied) or the credit agencies or my IP ? I spoke to a couple of my creditors today and they claimed that they did not know that my IVA was completed. If the debt has been sold on will it be the creditor or the company who brought the debt that needs to be contacted ?

Hi
I doubt if creditors will remove your defaults, they will come off your file six years from the date that they went on.You may be better to ask your IP to write a letter confirming that the accounts in default were part of your IVA and are satisfied

The mortgage broker I spoke to said that my credit file needed updating to reflect the fact I did not owe any more money and that the defaults whilst they would not go off my account would show as satisfied. I do not understand how a credit file can show a IVA as completed but still show the defaults as open. I checked my credit file today and only one of my creditors has put a S(satisfied) next to the default.

I have been writing to my creditors today asking them to update my credit files. I have sent them all the paperwork they need. Do they have to update my credit files and mark them as satised or can they choose not to. If they do choose to update them how long should I leave it before checking my credit files. Whats the cheapest way of checking your credit files ? As to check it online each time is about £15.00.

Thanks for that. Do my creditors have to show the defaults as satisfied now that my IVA is completed ?

The other thing you can do is subscribe to one of the credit reference agencies. I use Experian and it costs about £50 for the year, but you can check as often as you like, and they will also send you an alert via email and text if something unusual happens on your account. I've found it very useful

Have found out that some of my debts have been sold to Eversheds/Max Recovery. does anyone know a address where I can write to them ? I have been told I need to contact them to ask for my credit file to be updated.

Reply I got from Expedian
We keep credit accounts on our records for six years from the date of default. When your IVA is complete, lenders should update the entries to be marked as satisfied. However, the defaults will not be removed just because your IVA is complete, they will remain for the six years.
I have two defaults for someof mine , the original and Evershed. I guess since I ain't going anywhere for 10 years I just let it all sort itself out
