Well Done Vicki,

Thats fantastic, they say it takes 21 days to break a habit so you have reached that point. [:D]

I'd definately recommend it

I gave up smoking the same week my iva was accepted so it's nearly 4 months now.I initially had champix.I'm currently chopping nicorette gum.I read Alan Carr and the other one.You know..I can make you thin...I can make you stop smoking ...I can make you stop spening moneyYou know the one.He had no effect either. The best thing I was told was to think of the smoking triggers as a memory of something you used to do.This seemed to put the 'crave' nto perspective somehow.cAT

Well done.. I too stopped smoking at the new year, and haven't had one since. I needed alot of willpower, but I've done it. I have been putting my money that i would spend on cigs, in a jar, and I've got a fortune. Gonna treat myself soon..

If you smoke, you should declare the cost in the income and expenditure account - and let creditors make their mind up whether it is allowable or not.

As a social smoker! I have a policy that most people would pay £20 per packet if cigarettes cost that much - and most people find it hard to give up completely. So work out what you spend and put it forward. They can only say no!

Well done everyone who's managed to quit the dreaded weed.....
We last gave up end of November 07. Tried a few times before, longest for 3yrs! I'd had the patches from NHS, from a previous attempt, but we just went cold turkey, I was fine but hubby had no fingers left after a week....lol. Our health has improved and the kids are much happier now we don't smoke. I was next to a lady in a shop the other day as she smelt so bad of ciggies....not nice at all. I never fancy one but hubby says he could start again without a second thought!! I've told him if he did I wouldn't kiss him anymore, seems to be working!!! lol.
I was under the impression that creditors/OR's wouldn't allow for smoking. I suppose it could be open to abuse if they did allow it because you could say you smoke more to have a bigger allowance. No harm in asking though.

Hi all. I am a smoker unfortunately and do have all intentions of giving up but am scared to death of putting more weight on and every single person I know has done so. I decided to get my weight under control so that when I give up it wont cause me problems. As Melanie says if you smoke put it in the I and E all they can do is say no.
Well done to all those who have given up, I am still outside, like the advert with my umbrella turning inside out looking an idiot.

Well done for giving up. I gave up in January 1992. I just went cold turkey after trying goodness knows how many times. I can now look back and say it was easy really. I wish I'd done it years before. I think of all the money I wasted . I used to smoke 30-40 a day. I just think if I can do it anyone can.

I gave up on no smoking day 1998, so 10 years for me this year.
Wasn't the easiest thing i have ever done, but glad i did.
I don't think i could afford to start again now, even if i wanted to.
