I have found a venue for our November gathering - slightly outside the town centre in Walsall as the room costs in Birmingham were proving too high.
I hope that this will be suitable for everyone, and you can book your rooms at the rate of £49.50 for a double room directly with the hotel - just mention Frugal Friends (or my colleague Angela Smith's name).

Hi Lily, how are you?
I rang the phone number on the web page and had the room confirmed immediately. I did have to give my electron card number and was told that it wouldn't deduct any money and we would pay on the day.
I bet they will contact you tomorrow to confirm.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi
Ok, having serious problems with the house, drains etc, scaffolding up, no phone, water logged, its crackling too much so I tried online, that keeps going off too. Will try to sort it out tomorrow, I have left my mobile number on the site.
Hope to meet you there.

I have been to this hotel, my parents had their 50th anniversary do there. We had a nice meal, and the room we had for that was ok. If it is the same room, there was no bar, you have to go to he main bar to get drinks. Did't stay there, so don't know what the rooms are like.
There is parking there. For anyone going by train, you can catch a local train from Birmingham New Street to Walsall, but not sure about taxi's. I don't remember there being a taxi rank outside the back of the station (the front leads to the main shopping area - nothing to write home about - which is pedestrianised).
Ladyh, if you are still planning on staying with us, let me know and I will email you.

I am a little cheesed that I cannot make this saturday as it clashes with the last game of the cricket season, I had such a fab time with the one I did get to earlier this year in Manchester.
I will make a special effort to get to the one in Birmingham, if I can, and hope to see all of you there.
I'm sure you will all have a smashing time, and you will be well looked after by Mel and Andy et all.
Regards.
