We are in the process of getting our IVA agreed and like so many of you have become used to a pile of letters from creditors landing on our doormat each morning asking for payment. Yesterday I received a very interesting proposition from Barclaycard!! Now bearing in mind that Barcaycard had written to us weeks ago saying they had passed our debt over to Mercers, the letter we have just received goes like this.......
Dear.....
Our records show that your account is still past due. As we are commited to working with you we would like to help you clear your arrears and reduce your balance by offering you the folllowing opportunity:
Make a payment of £617 and we will credit your account by £150
What planet are these people on? we've told them, and Mercers that we are setting up an IVA and that we can't pay them anything. What makes them think that anyone would want to take them up on this crazy offer?? mmm.... I don't think so
I'm wondering if anyone else has had letters like this from Barclaycard??

Hi Bettyboop
Yes, I too had letters like this from Barclaycard when my IVA was going through ... last ditch attempts methinks.

I think your right Soulgrouth, they will try anything to squeeze anything they can out of you.
I'll just be glad when our IVA is up and running so that all these letters will hopefully stop once and for all.

Barclaycard were lovely when I was going through my IVA - they said they put my account on hold so I wouldn't get calls, and I never heard from them again!

I had a similar letter from barclaycard (like the one sent to Bettyboop). Mine was sent on sept 5th after my iva was approved on august 27th. In the same post I had a letter from mercers (acting for barclaycard) threatening to send a debt collector to my home to collect full payment. I cant even be bothered to call them now (keep the cost of a phone call)

Just an afterthought, I wander if the mercers debt collector would like some "Smartprice" biscuits with his cup of "Smartprice" tea whilst sitting on my "Smartprice" chair whilst I tell him he can't have any money ?
