Myself and my partner are thinking seriously of going bankrupt, we are shortly moving to a new house, private rental...will our landlord be aware of what had happened, do we have to tel him? I know it will be on the local paper though....also I didn't realise you had to pay back money to your creditor after being made bankrupt, are there particular "grades" on how much you pay back? It seems that bankruptcy will still cost us a much as an IVA!!!We are going bankrupt as we have no assets and seems the easiest way to deal with things

Hey tnas, welcome to the forum. I suggest you talk to an insolvency practitioner to go over ALL of your options. Have a look at www.iva.com and read the reviews of IPs on there, pick a couple and see what they advise.

If you have disposable income over £100 then you will have to pay an income payments agreement for 3 years. This is probably less than you would pay in an IVA.

I've read on here before that your landlord will not always be told.
