Hi
Has anyone heard or had experience of the Co-op Cashminder account charging £20 to open the account ?

Hi Andy

I opened a co-op cashminder account in June and there was no charge. Thanks Cathy

I haven't heard about that Andy. That's not good if they are doing that. Mind you, I'd still recommend the account even if there is a charge to open it as I think it's the best basic account out there.

Agreed Skippy, but I would also mention that in the last year I must have recommended that a few thousand people/couples consider this account and until 2 weeks ago I never knew of 1 rejection but since then I have had 2 or 3 in a row. I hope it is just coincidence but has anyone else noticed this?

Regards.

The only rejections I've heard of is when people can't produce ID (I had this problem first time I tried to open the account) or when someone isn't on the electoral register. It's amazing the amount of people who don't realise that they need to be on it!

I didnt have to pay anything accross and i did not have to provide any kind of ID but i am on the electoral register.

I may be a little behind the times here, but have you changed your forum name Steve?

It sounds as though you might have applied for a full current account Fox as I'm pretty sure you can only apply for a Cashminder on the phone or in a branch.

Thats what I thought Skippy, had a quick look on the site and it says ring or call into a branch.

Do you get online banking with this account? Can you set up direct debits? Pay instores with your card?
