As long as they are in no way linked to your creditors then your account should be safe.

If Lloyds aren't one of your creditors you should be fine. I had an account with them when I was in an IVA and they were happy for me to keep it when I went BR.

IM SORRY FOR SOUNDING LIKE AN IDIOT BUT IVE BEEN HEARING ALL THIS STUFF ABOUT HBOS AND LLOYDS LINKING UP. I AM TERRIFIED OF TRYING TO MAKE A FRESH START AND THEN HALIFAX(ANOTHER CREDITOR OF MINE !) PLUNDERING THE ACCOUNT
LLOYDS MAY NOT WANT ME FOR THIS REASON AS THEY/THEY WILL OWN HBOS

Why not try another bank? Co-op are a good one, as are Nationwide.

IT JUST GETS WORSE! I HAVENT OPENED A NEW BANK ACCOUNT FOR 10 YEARS MY PASSPORTS 2 YEARS EXPIRED, ITS 90 POUND OR SO FOR A NEW ONE- I DONT HAVE THAT. YOU NEED PASSPORT AS ID(I DONT DRIVE). LLOYDS SAID THEY WOULD ACCEPT BILL AND A REFERENCE LETTER IE FROM TEACHER, POLICE OFFICER AS ID THATS WHY IM STUCK. MAKES U FEEL DEPRESSED. THANX 4 REPLIES ALL DIDNT EXPECT EVEN ONE XX

I don't think it matters if your passport has expired or not. It's just the photo id they need. Did you ask them if that would be ok? My daughter takes her (expired) passport out with her when she goes out as proof of ID.

A reference from a professional person, unless they are a close friend, would probably cost you.
