Hi, Like most people I have received a credit card statement from Bank of Scotland Gold Card yesterday. Whilst I assumed that this was just my turn with the new Consumer Credit Regulations I noticed:

They have added on

1. Account review fee £50.00
2. Late payment Fee £12.00
3. Card Protection £70.00.

Rang them up only to be told they are aware of the fact that I am in an IVA but they are entitled to add these charges !!!!!!!.

For 1 because they have done this ?
For 2 my IP has not made any payment this month ?
For 3, although my account was suspended I didnt cancel the debit instruction which was my responsibility.

Having spoken to a Senior Manager - he informed me that as far as he was aware they were entitled to make the additional charges for work done and the new regulations did not specifiy that anyone in a 'special arrangement' or an IVA were exempt !! He also added that these fees and new transactions were incurred after my IVA was approved and were therefore not included in it!!!

Anyone else had this ?
How will this effect my IVA if at all ?
Is this going to be a stealth/underhand way of raising additional revenue.

Mel/anybody - ideas/thoughts please ? I don't really want to have to be bothered spending time writing letters taking up issue with this.

They cannot levy any charges once an IVA is in place - so send the statement to your IP and let them deal with it for you. I really do not understand why banks are wasting so much money on this sort of thing at a time when they ought to be trying to kickstart the economy again.
