Hello,
I had my IVA accepted 3 months ago. I used PayPlan as recomended to me by citizens advice. I have just lost my job and I am claiming job seekers allowance. I informed PayPlan of this and they said I can take a payment break and add the payments I miss to the end of my IVA (up to a certain amount).
The main problem I (and my wife) have is that if I don't find a job soon we will not be able to afford the rent/bills etc (we are private tenants). So my wife found out that she was eligable to purchase a shared ownership house throught a local estate agent, they told her the mortgage and rent would be about £200 less than what we pay in rent now (which we could live with).
This was all fine until she applied for the mortgage (have to use estate agents broker), she has excellent credit and has never missed a loan or credit card payment. The mortage application was refused. She purchased a copy of her credit report and its fine apart from the fact she is financially associated with me.
Is there anything we can do about this? PayPlan told me my partner would not be affected by my IVA.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks, Mark
