One thing I forgot to ask ... would greatly appreciate any advice forum members can give me in dealing with creditor calls at work. I work in a very small office and nothing gets past my colleagues! I'm dreading the calls but now they're going to come soon!

Hi brown lizzie welcome to the forum and i hope that find this a supportive one. With regards to creditors calling at work i would politely remind that you are just that at work and unable to take the call and please contact you at a more appropriate time, are you in an IVA or trying to arrange one?

I would phone them all and ask them to remove your works number. Provide them with your mobile number only, that way you can choose whether to answer or not. Tell them you will get sacked if they carry on phoning!!!!!

would i be right in saying that could be classified as harrassment if it continues vicki?

I don't think so Orchid, I think they have the right to pursue you for the money owed to them. I phoned them all and got my home number taken off and they all removed it, so hopefully they will listen to Brown Lizzie.

Hi
If one particular creditor calls you at work you can always phone them first thing in the morning, every morning. At least then they will most probabaly not bother you for the rest of the day

I agreee with vicki. Tell them to remove your works number as it could put your job at risk.

Harrassment is how you look at it I think. Yes they shoud be able to contact you, but to be aggressive, rude or continuous callling as I had with one creditor (14 in one day) was nothing other than harrassment and they shouldnt be able to do it.
I might add this was out of the ordinary and all the others were fine.

I was fortunate in as much as non of my creditors had a work number. They did have a mobile number though. All I did initially, was to change my ringtone to the same as my message tone, so it just sounded as though I had a message coming through. That way I could just ignore it.

I did change my number in the end though.

I would just politely tell them that it is not covenient to call you at work, and that if they give you a telephone number to call back on you will do so at a more convenient time. Unfortunately it can be difficult to stop this sorth of thing happening, but the sooner an IVA is in place for you the sooner this will naturally cease.

I've posted this before, but the ringtone for all my creditors was the music from the shower scene in Psycho!

lololololololol Viki, that has certainly put a smile on my face!! I too was very lucky in that i was advised to make a token payment to my creditors with a covering letter, this i did and to this day have never had a phone call.

See my earlier post today and tell them that you are recording this call and that you don't want them ringing you at work.:
