Hi
It really depends what you do and the job you will be applying for. Were you credit checked for your current position?
Different government departments can take different views if one of their employees becomes bankrupt. In my experience however they have been supportive of their employees that enter an IVA
I would say that it is unlikely that you would be penalised for entering into an IVA - it is a responsible course of action when you are in debt.
It may always be worth checking with your union or employee representative though.

As far as I am aware, a criminal record check should not provide a credit reference.
Your union or employee representative should be able to advise you in confidence. I would not worry about using the resources open to you.
Can you say which government department you work for - I may have already had experience with someone in the same sector as you.

I really do not think you will have a problem then - I think the CRB check is only to allow them to ensure that they are not employing any potential terrorists - for which I am very grateful.
If the Inland Revenue, the police force, the armed forces etc are happy to have employees who are in IVA then I am sure that London Underground will be fine.

Hi Fergie
Please dont worry, I had an extended CRB check and the only thing it ever flags up in financial terms is fraud. I am sure everything will be fine.

I am sure it will be Ok, if youre still worried, phone the HR dept anonymously.
I know its hard in these first few weeks, Hun, you think youre coping OK and then the full force of your situation just crashes your spirit and makes your eyes water again.
Hang in there for now, and keep posting. Someone will always be here to listen.

As I know a little of your circumstances Fergiedoggy, I would be absolutely certain that an IVA would not affect your ability to transfer jobs - and you ought to go for it as it is a really good opportunity.

Go for it FD! If you get a chance to go for a better job you should take it with both hands.
One of my regrets is that years ago I went for an interview with a motorsport magazine and got invited back for a second interview. I was doing something else, which at the time seemed much more important and I didn't go. With hindsight I should have gone for the interview...
