Hi Kate,
You can indeed rent a property although you might have some problems with the credit check some agencies throw in.
The most important thing is to be upfront and honest with the agency. They may ask for a larger deposit, a guarantor is better (if you can get one).
Some of these agency vetting companies seem to think IVA's are BR and will reject you (bummer when it costs about £40 a time)
Private landlords are obviously usually a bit more flexible so might be worth a go.
However, there are some people on here that have managed to get through a letting credit check successfully whilst in an IVA (somehow).
Again, I'd just say be upfront and honest the worst they can say is they wouldn't accept you and you might actually be surprised sometimes as an IVA is actually a good way to prove a repayment history. Your IP should be able to provide a reference for you.
Hope this helps

Hi Kate,
I was upfront with the letting agency, told them I was in an IVA, the response wasn't negative at all as I first expected, they suggested either 3/6 months rent in advance may be required depending on the credit search.
The credit search results were not negative - so in the end, I didn't need to worry.
Not all letting agencies have access to experian etc - but as always, it's sometimes is best to be honest and upfront.
Regards.

Hi, private landlords do not tend to credit check. They just require a reference from work to say you are in full time employment.
I rent privately and my landlord only asked for one months deposit.
