Well I've just got off the phone with Debitas legal services,They chase for Capital One. Yesterday I called all my creditors, which included the likes of RMA,MERCERS,BRUNSWICK, who collect on others behalf. The reason for my calls............To wish them a happy Xmas and ask for a truce on phone calls until the 2nd Jan 2009. Believe it or not they all agreed only for me to receive a call again today from Debitas. I again wished the lady a happy xmas and she promised it was an error, and I would be left alone until 2nd JAN 2009.
I'll let you know who breaks the truce first. Happy Xmas everyone.

A truce, that's brilliant Stirling. I hope they agree to it, I'm sure they will.

I'm still at the pre iva stage, I'm getting about 30-40 calls a day, plus numerous texts, from creditors, mainly the Halifax, is this normal?

If it's any help I'm at the same stage but I call my creditors(10) every week to let them know how I'm progressing. The calls have gone down from about 20 a day to about 3 a week. I must admit I am always cheerful with them and if you call them, it gives you the upper hand in any conversation since you initiated the call.

Thanks for that advice stirling, I must admit i have been too scared to speak to them. I may try telling them about the future iva proposal (just once) and see if that would actually help. If it doesn't, I'll carry on rejecting their calls on my mobile.
The letters don't seem to bother me, but the phone calls get me so worked up. [:(]

Very innovative Stirling - this might be useful for posters who have initiated an IVA.

They called 6pm boxing day! 7.30am Saturday(then another 15times till 9pm).Spoke to them yesterday when they called to say situation had not changed since xmas eve and what do you know they call me 7.30 this morning!

Looks like Debitas have broken the truce. I have a missed call from their number. They collect for Capital 1.
Never mind I will take great delight in calling them tomorrow and reminding them to look at their promise on the 24th. I even had the presence of mind to ask her name .............i will call her back personally.

Anyone receiveing these pestering calls should use one of those noisy childrens toys that make horrible noises - give these pesterers a taste of their own medicine!
