Does anyone know - If your debt has been sold to MaxRecovery, should the original debtor still have an entry on your credit report.

I completed my IVA in September and have just got roudnto checking my report. It obviously looks twice as bad as it really is as all but 2 of my debts were sold to MaxRecovery and so I've got 2 entries for each one. Is it possible to remove 1?

I'm not sure of the answer. However I recently go my credit report from Experian and our creditors who had sold the debt onwards were showing, but no "secondary" owners of the debt were listed!

Speak with your IP and ask them to resolve this issue if necessary.

Not sure about that one. However, once the six years is up, won't they both just drop off anyway?

Not sure it is the responsibility of your IP. The creditor should give notice to the IP and the IP will amend in his records.Whether the IP has to notify anyoneis a mute point. You can advise Experian or whosoever that this debt was acquired by so and so though.

It is not the responsibility of the IP to assist with correcting entries on credit files, and I do not believe that we would have the ambit to do this in any case. But there should not be two entries for the same debt, and I am sure that this could be rectified by sending the notification of the assignment of the debt to the CRA's which you would have received when Max purchased the account.

I had this problem - Barclaycard had sold my debt to Max Recovery and hadn't removed their entry. I wrote to Barclaycard, who were absolutely useless and couldn't find their entry! In the end I wrote to Max Recovery and got a very nice letter back from Eversheds (their solicitors) confirming that thay had contacted Barclaycard and it was now sorted.
