I saw this too - just deciding whether it is any cheaper in the long run as by the time you add the entertainment passess on etc it almost makes it £70 three night break for two of us as we have to pay for four people as a minimum - compared to a weekend of camping in our tent which will only cost £40 - for those with families they offer great value and a good few nights aways which should be treasured whilst in an IVA.

We found that as well - they are brilliant if you're a family, but when it's for a couple it starts to add up.

It's a shame cos they are something different - but as a couple they are just not viable. At the moment you could get two nights in a travel lodge somewhere for £40 - at least that sort of feels like a hotel suite !!!!

A hotel sounds much better!

You're braver than me camping though!

I have to say I thought camping would be a no no for me - but actually once it is all set up and you are settled (takes about 2 hours), you have a glass of wine in your hand and the BBQ on.....the atmosphere sort of takes over and it is very relaxing - campers are all so polite to each other and it is fantastic on the offical camping sites we go on, with all mod cons etc - we have a new tent to go in this year - overtime money we have saved throughout the summer last year after paying over the balance to the IVA company - so it will be sort of rewarding to go away this year and set up the new tent and think we paid for this all ourselves !

I'm with you Skip! I like all mod cons - and within the same four walls, not having to trek somewhere in the middle of the night if I need the loo!

Went camping in the South of France one year - hated having to traipse to the loos and the shower and the icing on the cake was opening the suitcase one mornng to find a mouse in there who had chewed through a lot of the clothes!

Never again!

Don't you get creepy crawlies in the tent?

We didn't seem to have a problem with them, it was just the inconvenience of not having everything in the same place that I hated.

No the tent is totally enclosed and when zipped up at night no b***** can get in ! We don't use the loo's in the middle of the night - we have a portable toilet called a "luggable loo" in the third bedroom - basically a bucket with a lid on it ! Just clean it out every morning and away you go ! The shower block and washing facilities is sparkling, the campsites we go on are all either club or certified sites which basically mean they have to be of a high standard ! It's not for everyone and I am sure once our IVA has finished I will be heading off on a plane somewhere - but in the mean time my three bedroom holiday home with a large verandah and lounge area is very appealling !!!!!

I couldn't be doing with the portable toilet and having to clean it every day. I'm really fussy about toilets.

That is not a holiday!!! I couldn't do without the hairdryer or straighteners either!

Got no problem with that as my hair is very short and straight - just wash and leave!

The more luxury I can get on a holiday, the better!
