Hi all, i am just about to declare myself bankcrupt, and im terrified. i have had to give my job up to become a full time carer for my partner whom is very ill. Can anyone tell me if unsecured creditcard debtors would be able to send in balliffs after my bankcrupt petition or does this stop creditor hassle? many thanks v. stressed!!

Hi and welcome.

Once you have been made bankrupt, creditors can no longer chase you for anything. They certainly can't send the bailiffs in. You will be able to start again with a clean sheet.

I'm sorry your partner is very ill, you can do without this stress now, but once you are br, everything should settle down again.

I wish you luck.

Don't be worried about bankruptcy, it is a very easy and simple process, and is there for you to benefit from rather than being seen as something to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

Your partner needs you more than your creditors, and I sincerely hope that they eventually recover. Good luck with the application, and don't hesitate to post on the forum if you need any further support.

Have a read of Skippy13's blog - for an insight into what happened to her whilst bankrupt and beyond. I think you will find it very helpful, and Skippy is a regular poster and will be more than happy to provide you practical support from her own personal experiences with bankruptcy.
