Hi we are thinking about taking an iva out coz we can not see any other way which will help us. we havent signed up to a company yet but i know we can get an iva. are only concern is getting a mortgage in the near future. i have searched the internet about getting a mortgage with an iva we currently have a mortgage with halifax on alow interest rate. (however they would consider you with an iva). how would an iva affect us getting a mortgage? if possible we want to know how much higher the interest rate is than a stanard company. Or could you please of a company that could help us.
many Thanks

Hello and welcome.
Are you homeowners as it stands or would you be first time buyers?

Well pointed out Mrs S!!! Must be getting old.....
I am not a qualified mortgage expert, so maybe someone like welshboy can advise you further as to availability of products in this mortgage market. The inherent risk you run by not getting help before you get another deal, of course, is that the cycle continues and you end up with larger unsecured debts. This on its own may affect any mortgage application, and may lessen your chances of being successful in an IVA proposal. Seek specialist help by visiting
www.iva.com and speak to at least 2 to 3 providers before you go further.
Regards.

This is a question for your mortgae company ultimately - there may be some loading because you are in an IVA, but some lenders may not be so bad ezpecially if you have a good payment record with them.

You indicate that you currently have a mortgage - why are you looking for another one?

Are you thinking of selling your house, or are you just making an enquiry for the future?
