If a person had equity in their house and sold it, would this reduce the total IVA payable? Does the written off part of the debt stay written off or would they use the equity to pay off the debt that was wriiten off? Is there anything a person can do to report bad or lack of advice from their IVA company? I was told that an IVA wouldn't effect my job but it has applied limitations. Thank you

Do you mean if the equity was offered up to the IVA? If so, then this would produce a higher return for creditors.
If you have a complaint against your IP, you should firstly direct it to the internal complaints department, and if this does not resolve the issue you can formalise the complaint by contacting the IPs regulatory body.
No-one can guarantee for you that an IVA will not affect your employment. This rather rests with the individual policies of employers generally.

I'm confused - how does it affect your job? I thought an IVA was confidential?

With some jobs, an IVA can affect them. I believe Civil Servants can have a problem. A lot of police forces will not accept people for any job if they have an IVA (you have to declare it on the application form), and some jobs which require special security clearance can be a no-no.
Don't forget that anyone can look it up on the Insolvency Register as well.
