Another question, sorry:

We are in an IVA and included is a tax credit overpayment.

Has anybody else done this and have the payments started again or do you have to contact them?

Hello I welcome to the forum - sorry just to make sure are you talking about working tax credits or child tax credits? Were you overpaid one or both of these tax credits?
If so, even if you were & they agreed to put the overpayment into your IVA - you will still be able to claim for futures years to come. Especially for the child tax credit.
My husband & I had a massive over payment from tax credits some years ago, but we wrote & appealed against i. Took a year for them to decide it was there fault & we did not have to pay it back. Thank goodness because it was alot & caused us great hardship after wards.

Where an overpayment of tax credits has been included in an IVA any recovery action by HMRC must cease and the credits restored to their proper level. If this has not happened, speak to your IP who can contact the insolvency unit at HMRC who can sort the problem out. It may mean you would have to make reduced payments to the IVA in the interim but the rebate would make up the shortfall.
