I'm sure someone on here will have some feedback for you - are you with them already or just considering it?

If its the latter you could check www.iva.com and read reviews of a few IP's.

CCCS are nominally a charity but they are funded almost entirely by the credit industry.

They have only really one debt solution - a long winded DMP that if followed to it's conclusion (and I doubt many are) is designed to return 100% to creditors.

Folks can draw their own conclusions.

That is not true! CCCS now do IVAs as well for their clients, and charge a normal market rate for fees which is not part of their "charitable" business.

I have met their IP, and she is a very experienced and knowledgable lady - but I believe that this side of the business is run separately from their DMP arm, so it could be worth having a chat with them.

Agreed - I am aware that CCCS do IVAs now but I am thinking this forms a pretty small (negligible?) part of their overall caseload.

Also, the modus operandi you describe - taking people in via a 'charitable' offering and then passing them into a commercial IVA does not sound especially ethical and if correct has not enhanced my opinion of them one jot!

I'll let you know soon enough since I'm using them. I'm pretty far down the line now and should have an outcome by 1st march.
So far, I have got nothing but good things to say about them, and they have kept me informed throughout the process.
I think go_4_brokes views are quite blinkered.

Why is it not ethical to offer people all solutions rather than just a DMP?

I'm with them, IVA agreed in October 08. I have only got good things to say about them, quick at answering queries by email too.

CCCS operate on a the same principle as Payplan. DMP's are funded by the creditors, and IVA's are not.

I was on a DMP with a fee charging company and wanted to swap over to Payplan so that more of my money went to the creditors. They immediately put us up for an IVA. They could have just let us carry on with the DMP, but they didn't.

I would think that CCCS would be the same, and they would not offer you a DMP when an IVA was the better solution.

My first chat with the CCCS they went through all the options, saying about a DMP which would take about 16 years to clear, IVA and BR. Sent me some info on all three to help me decide. There was no pressure to choose anything.

I went thro CCCS' online programme and it suggested that with my outgoings I pay £725 a month in a DMP to pay off approx £49k. I would be happy with that to say the least (given that I pay more than that at the moment)but am aware that the creditors don't have to stop the interest. If they don't stop the interest then I can imagine paying the debt off for the rest of my life

I'm wondering whether I qualify for an IVA as two companies (Cleardebt and CCCS) have both suggested DMP - at this rate I think its best to take the DMP. Anybody else in the same situation - want an IVA (for the certainty)but keep being suggested a DMP (whose payments are fine but are potentially neverending)

I wonder why these companies have suggested only a DMP for you? It may be possible for you to propose an IVA, so why have they not suggested this as an alternative solution. Have you asked this question?
