Yeak......... went on the internet and did one of the search comparision sites - after about 20 minutes managed to get exactly the same insurance quote / details for £240 a year - paying monthly over 10 months with one deposit of £40 ! Super duper ! Shop around I say - you can get it cheaper !

When I phoned to advise existing, I didn't want to renew, they offer to see if they can reduce my payments.....thats when I definitely take my custom elsewhere. I expect the best price first time around!

Home insurance is next on my list Lesley - keep searching and also take a lot of what is on your existing, has anything changed?

I'll jeep you posted, if I get anything cheaper.

Ah now Julie, I did the same with an insurance once, rang to cancel and they said they'd do it cheaper I said mmm 'no thanks'.

I'm going to apply online for my insurance from my existing insurer to see if I can get it cheaper, wouldn't have thought of doing that!

Really bugs me when they say "lets see if we can find you a better deal" that means,we actually intended to rip you off due to your absolute loyalty for which we thank you. I always move companies,as insurers rely on lazy customers who do not shop around for better deals. Money wasted if you dont, money that could be better spent elsewhere!!

I've got to sort out cheaper car insurance but unfortunately my renewal isn't due until July. I'm paying £43 a month to Churchill and it seems extortionate for a Ford Fiesta! I only stuck with them this year as they let me pay in monthly instalments and a lot of companies wouldn't, probably because of my credit rating.

I can spend days looking for insurance - it's for the daughter at the moment and I check everything - comparison sites, and the insurance company websites.

Direct Line is looking good at the moment...............

My insurance for last year was £460 and the renewal came through for the same amount![:0] I managed to get the same cover with Prudential for £290, (and I can pay in installments), I rang the original company to cancel and the man said "we can get it a bit cheaper, how about £430?" hahahaha, was he having a larf??? I just told him to cancel it, it was far too expensive[:D]

I'm afraid in the past I've been one of those lazy customers who the insurers love, but our post-IVA mode has changed us a lot. Do you mind me aking which price-comparison site you used and were you able to pay by direct debit?

I think you will probably find that it is down to each individual company as to what their policy is on instalments.

I personally use compare the market, and money supermarket.

Skippy - that does seem a lot of money. Daughter also has a Fiesta and I've managed to get hers down to £38 a month so far, but hers is only expensive because of her age.

Mine wasn't too bad when I renewed, but I changed cars after a couple of months and it went up. I asked if I could cancel, but there's a £50 admin fee so I'm going to let it run it's course and then cancel.

It's also worth having a look on a cashback website like Quidco as you can often get a quite a bit back that way.

I was with them when I wrote my car off and they were useless! First of all they couldn't find the car (parked outside my house!) and then they lost my file just as they were about to issue the cheque!
