Hi, my question is related to credit reference agencies, especially Experian.
My wife and I entered into an IVA in 2002, and we were able to settle after 4 years. In 2008, after six years from commencement, I applied for a credit score from Experian and found it to be 800+, which is classed as "good". My wife, who has a financial connection with me i.e. joint bank account, bill paying etc. applied a few months later (as we were concidering applying for a mortgage), and to her, and my surprise, her rating was just over 200, and classed as bad. She checked her account on-line, and found nothing at all that could be detramental to her credit score. There was no outstanding credit, no creditors, nothing. She contacted Experian, who were not really helpful, and discovered that perhaps the reason was that there was no credit history, so they could not give her a higher score. I found this very strange because I havn't got any credit history either, but was given the 800+ score.
How can this be correct?

Any idea's?

There may be something still on your credit file which is not on your wife's such as a car HP agreement. If you had one and it was paid off or is still being paid this would give you a better credit score than someone with no history at all. Is this the case?

I would check the other two CRA's as well, Call Credit and Equifax. There may be something on there which hasn't shown up on Experian.
