I’ve been in my IVA for a few months now and in a strange way I am quite enjoying the challenge of budgeting!

Until I found out today that my fantastic employers had mistakenly tried to get a payment out of my co-op account due to a mess up in the pay roll dept.

I’ve set myself up with a main account for bills and a savings account for spends. This means I have now had another DD rejected. This is the second time it’s happened, the first was when I first set up my account and a DD was set up incorrectly meaning I got billed a day before pay day.

The Co-op is now closing my account and I’ve got ten days to find something else.

Rather than have a lot of debt with one lender mine is spread over lots of the banks so I’m v limited as to who I can go with.

I also really need some kind of switch card for work travel. We are required to pay all our hotels via cards.

Any ideas?

Tyr Yorkshire Bank. They do a very basic account with a Maestro card and internet banking.

You could get a prepaid card, a lot of posters on here use them and you can't go overdrawn with them.

As for banks, have you explained to the co-op what has happened?

If they're not sympathetic, you could always try Yorkshire Bank, they are also ok with IVA's but I think you have to go into a branch to open an account.
