would an iva affect my job in the RAF
It would depend upon your rank, appointment and security vetting status - and you may have to disclose your financial difficulties to your Commanding Officer.
It might be a good idea to check with your Families Officer, who will be obliged to treat this very confidentially and can hopefully advise you as to your responsibilities. I have a number of clients serving with the RAF, and so far as I am aware their jobs have not been affected at all.
