Hi I have been discussing doing an IVA with Payplan, who seem very helpful, however after reading some of the topics on this forum I am not sure whether to go with them or another IP. It sounds as though they may not fight my corner or negotiate enough... can anyone advise please.[?]

There are many people who have had good service from Payplan, and a lot of complaints as well. You have to go as you find I think Jan, and it might be an idea to try a couple of other companies before you make your mind up finally.
Five years is a long time to be with the wrong firm, but Jan (Kallis) is with Payplan and she seems to get a good service. Perhaps we should ask Jan if she had her time all over again would she select Payplan?

It would be worth trying at least another couple of companies to see how comfortable you are with the advice offered. You can try
www.iva.com for reviews. Two companies that get really good reviews from members of the forum are Melanie Giles and David Mond (ClearDebt)

Remember also that many people only slag off a company if they have a bad experience. Look into a few companies before you decide. I know time is short but trust your instincts.

Hi
Plasticdaft makes a good point, sometimes you only hear the bad things.
Payplan are a very large organisation and very reputable, however you may lose the personal touch that you will receive with a smaller company

I have no problem with Payplan at all. We have had good service from them since we first rang and actually asked we could transfer our DMP across to them, and they couldn't believe that we hadn't been offered an IVA.
Go with your gut instinct - there are a lot of professionals on here who come highly recommended by other posters and you need to be happy with the company you choose.
I rate them though.

I am also with Payplan, who, have been brilliant up to now, all of their staff who I have spoken to have been really helpful, but, as others say, ring a couple and follow your instincts.

Please visit
www.iva.com for reviews on firms and practitioners and select one or two to have a chat with.
They will give you the appropriate advice and it is free.
You can then decide either to stay with Payplan or another that you feel comfortable with.
Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for all you advice. I am pleased with the service so far just a little concerned about the expediture figures they have proposed. It doesn't seem much to live on. I wondered if I could get some example's of what allowances are realistic.

Exactly what have they said you are allowed Jan? We put down what we spend and it's up to them to trim things if needs be.

I am with payplan and have received a good service with them. The only problem I would say is re expenditure as I felt they didnt take my views into account sometimes Locko

Have to say that our expenditure we have had no problem with. My pay rise from last year hasn't made a difference to our payments, and my back pay from last year wasn't taken into account.

Hi
Payplan are funded by creditors [for DMPs] so may have a firmer view on expenditure than maybe an alternative provider.
Can you give us some examples of the figures that you have been quoted for expenditure Jan Brown ?

£495 for house keeping which they say i must include:
Sky - £35 (which I know is a luxury)
Food, toiletries & cleaning - £400
School meal - £64 (2 children)
Dry cleaning - £10
Household repairs - £20
School trips/activities - £15
Sundries & emergencies - £40
I am not sure I could manage, without not eating!!!
