After all the stress we've had over being in the IVA myself and my partner have decided to have a temporary separation, instead of breaking up completely, just to give each other space and time to sort ourselves out. We have two children and the last thing we want if for them to suffer for what's happening to us.
As it's only going to be for a couple of months and he'll be moving in with family do we need to contact our IP.
If all works out we'll be back together in no time, on the other hand if it doesn't then it could be a permanent thing
Now this has happened I've decided to leave the re mortgage issue for now, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it and our IP asks for it

Oh Sharon, I am so sorry to hear your news. Financial stress can place a great burden on relationships, and as you say breathing space to have time to think about yourselves is a sensible idea. I do hope that you get back together - I am sure that you will.

You should advise your IP of the change in circumstances, but don't worry unduly about this as so long as you can maintain your contributions between you it is unlikely to have much effect on moving forward.

Thanks, I'm sure we will be fine, it's just taken it's toll with us both working full time, my partners works nights so that hasn't helped. Trying to bring up two kids on a very tight budget and having the IVA. We get very little time or money to do anything as a family and with a joint income of nearly 60k it's really frustrating. We've got into a bad habit of blaming each other for the mess we got into.
So I think some time apart is just what we need so we can both work out what we want without effecting the kids
