Isaacs & Whey have contacted her saying that are solicitors and have informed her that she has been mis sold an IVA and that bankcruptcy would be her best option, they told her it would be 12 years before she could get credit by having an IVA. She has paid them some money at the moment, she has received a lot of paperwork from them and they do not appear on Company's House, they are not in Butterworth's Law directory either. She thinks that this is a scam and a scam company and would take this further if she has to.

Tell her to clear well out of the way of them - they are on the south coast somewhere - scam is a very mild description!

Wouldn't touch them with a ten foot barge pole.

They sound like an assisted bankruptcy company to me.

looby - if you are happy with your IVA, then stick to it. If you are having problems, speak with your own company in the first place to see what can be sorted out.

If bankruptcy is an option - you can do it yourself without paying company's an extortionate fee to do it for you.

A solicitor friend has jus told me that they are NOT solicitors. They are not in any Law Society or SRA publications and/or registers.

The only things that come up if you google them is bad press from us, and an expired job advert for them for telesales! Why would a reputable solicitor require tele sales?

It seems it is a trait of this particular industry - I hestiate to use the word profession! - that they pick posh sounding names to make out that they are reputable professionals.

Jan gives very good advice when she says if bankruptcy is a better way forward do it yourself. These guys are probably only interested in your money.

A solicitor up here by the name of Issacs was struck off for using clients' money as his own. He now lives, according to the papers when it was reported, on the south coast.

These companies appear no different to someone doing a distraction burglary on an older person. They are preying on the vulnerable

I deal with distraction burglaries where I work - and I see the upset it leaves behind. End result is the same - the injured person is out of pocket and the criminal has lined his.

Thanks everyone. I am ready to report them. I read that you can report these types of scam to the Met Fraud Squad. I have their bank account details and lots of supporting paperwork. I am going to nail them if I can.

If they are claiming to be solicitors the Law Society and/or the SRA will do it for you. To claim to be a solicitor when one is not carries an automatic prison sentence if found guilty
