Considering an IVA but was wondering how it would affect employment at a later date. May have missed this in my search for info so apologies if this has been covered.
The rason I am reluctant to go bankrupt is because I have done book keeping and touched on accountancy at college and although I don't work in this field I may consider it when the kids are old enough for me to work full time so just wondered if an IVA would have the same impact as bankruptcy?

Hi Ren,

I work for an accountancy firm and each year we are required to fill out an annual declaration which includes a question about whether you have a formal arrangement with creditors (or have had in the last 5 yrs). The first time I saw it I panicked and wondered if I was putting my job on the line by telling them about the IVA but every year I declare it and no-one has ever raised it as an issue. Hope that puts your mind at rest x[:)]

Ask your HR department about whether this constitutes any form of employment problem for you. If not, I would proceed in the right manner for your present and future. A chat with an insolvency practitioner ought to be able to help you understand the options and decide the best way forward for the future.
