Could anyone tell me if your name and all details are deleted from the insolvency register when you have completed your IVA whether by paying for the full 5 years or by making a full and final payment . I understood that it was removed but have been told by my IVA firm that it remains on the register for the full 6 years.

As far as I know the details are removed from the register once the certificate of completion of an IVA is issued, and 3 months after discharge for someone who is BR.

Skippy is correct.
It remains on your credit record for 6 years though.

Who in your IP firm has given you such dreadful information? The ladies before me are absolutely correct - the insolvency register is updated as soon as they are notified of a case closure.

Amazes me that an IP firm can give out such poor info. Would the world not be a simpler place if we could only clone Our Melanie???

If all Ip's were like you I dont doubt for one minute how much better a success rate all IVA's would have. The fact that you spend time on here both informing and educating is testament to your level of commitment as an IP.

Hi
They may be getting mixed up with your credit file. Although details are taken off the insolvency register once your IVA has completed or failed it will remain on your credit file six years from the date that your IVA started

But surely an IP firm has to get that right and make sure the client understands fully also?

They should do, but if it's office staff who are not sure, it might explain it.

But even the office staff should know what they are talking about. I would be disappointed if I spoke to someone and he told me the wrong thing,I would rather they say I dont know,but I shall find out for you.

You are absolutely correct Paul. As IPs we are directly responsible for the actions of our staff, and it is no excuse if they are not giving good advice. This all comes down to appropriate selection, training - and of course having good role models to follow in the IPs managerial staff as well.

This is probably the problem with large firms - the training is not as good as it should be. I know that if I'm not sure of anything at work, I ask, and all staff in my office are the same.
Everyone should be taught that.

If you dont know ask,and you normally find half the office dont know either but were too scared to ask!!!
