My iva has been up and running for 3 months now. I today received 2 'postcards' from NR. Now im not too concerned that these muppets have not caught up yet ut what has annoyed me is the fact that these cards are being sent out!

the card is not in an envelope and the writing is in bold red. It quite clearly says on the rear that if i dont take immediate action then they will be sending the heavies (well a representative round). Now to evryone who has handled this card including my postie it is quite clear that i owe money and that i havent been keeping up payments.Now where does this fit with data protection and above all else ethhical practise!

No doubt NR have sounded out this activity before going ahead with but im livid! They obviously think that this tatctic will shame/bully people into giving them something. I hope to god there representative comes to my door..................

NR have a cheek given the state they were in!!!
Phone them up and give them a piece of your mind. Also contact your IP to get them to call NR and ask why they have made contact with you even though your IVA has been up and running for 3 months now.

Sounds well below the belt to me.
I have heard of creditors sending out this sort of thing before but not so that any one reading it knows that they are chasing for payment.
What does it actually say ?

It is an offence to hassle a debtor and this sounds borderline. At least though we have some protection unlike other countries.

In Spain for example the debt collectors arrive at your house in vans and limos with 'Such and Such Debt Collectors' written in bold letters along the side. If that does not work a creditor can hire someone dressed as a matador who follows you around to work, the pub and your home. This is a good article and hopefully not advertising.

OMG that's awful Michael! If it wasn't so sad for the people being harassed it would actually be quite funny but I feel so sorry for the people being chased in that way.

the wording is quite clever but close to the line for my liking it reads and is set out like this (but in red)

Send it to your IP and tell them to contact N Rock. This is certainly near to the bone if this is not inside a plain envelope.

This sounds like RMA at work. If i remeber, the number seems similar and the wording sounds the same. RMA worked for Virgin (MBNA)when they were chasing my wifes debt. Not a very helpful company and quite often when they call and you answer, there is no one on the other end of the line.

It wouldn't take much to work out that the person is being chased by NR for payment.
It would be interesting to see how the relevent authorities view such tactics.
It is definately sent in a way to embarrass and scare someone into paying.

Another point to make, which I have noticed is that northern rock seem to on most people's lists!

The only card I ever had was from Halifax, and that just said that they would be contacting me on such and such a date, and if that wasn't convenient to let them know.

Not that they ever contacted me, but at least it wasn't easy to figure out what it was for.

This is just not on with NR - your finances are your business and shouldn't be advertised to all and sundry.
