For all that gave me advice and feedback earlier on in the week regarding my car just thought I would let you know that my car failed its MOT on the brakes but the good news is that the work that needs doing is no where near what Kwik Fit.
I decided to listen to Jan and not ask the ex boyfriend and to just crack on with the garage, Kwik Fit quoted £450 plus MOT and 2 rear tyres where as the garage are charging £196 including MOT and a tyre.
Kwik Fit were probably not out with their pricing but just on the rob to do work that obviously did not need doing.
I had £90 set aside for the MOT and my dad bless him is going to pay the differance so relived that I can manage this month and proud as that is the first disaster that has occured and its not on a credit card!!
Thanks for all your advice sorry for the ramblings!!

Hi
Well done for taking a second opinion.
It is a bit naughty of Kwik Fit to say that you needed work that you clearly didn't
Always pays to shop around

I'm sorry your car failed but I'm glad it's not as expensive as you first thought xxx

I saw two brothers on Dragon's Den last night who have a internet site that finds cheap garages not part of a chain. They seemed to have a good business but I cannot remember what it was called. They definitely seemed cheaper than the large chains and had three offers from the Dragons.

I saw that too. I am glad I took the advice had I of had a cerdit card in my purse this would the work would of never been questioned and I would of just paid it. It bothers me that Kwik Fit saw me pulling into the yard a lone woman with 2 kiddy car seats in the back and rubbed their hands together.Do you think places like this would of dsone the same to a bloke or is this my paranoia.

It is possible. The irony is if I went in I might not get the same treatment yet I cannot even drive! They might think 42 year old bloke knows about cars so better not rip him off. How wrong they would be to think that.

Very wrong, hands up I know nothing about cars and I should know a little more when it comes to general mainatainance like oil, tyre pressure etc. When I bought it I did so on my own as I knew what I wanted and had researched prices etc and the man I dealt with was lovley and if I did get ripped off he did it witha lovely smile!!! Men just seem to ask the right questions!!
