Hi minime! You're not alone, don't worry - you'll soon realise that on this site. We started the process at the beginning of September, and after speaking to a couple of companies opted to go with Vincent Bond - but have heard good things on here about Debtfree Direct, so you should be ok -I'm sure one of the experts will be along soon to help x

Good luck, I'm just starting out too. There seems to be a few of us around at the moment who are at similar stages of the process.

Declan from Debtfree posts on this site and you should be fine. Do not be concerned as you are not alone and if an IVA is the best option for you gather the information and return it. The whole process usually takes six to eight weeks and you will find a huge weight lifted.

Hi minime and welcome to the forum, I'm sure some of our posters use DFD and would suggest you visit
www.iva.com to read some reivews and if you haven't already, maybe speak to another couple of IP's to get free impartial advice.

My own clients tell me that they feel far better once they have shared their difficulties with their partner, close family members and the insolvency practitioner they have chosen to represent them. I am sure he willl be very supportive to you over the next few weeks until proposals can be presented to your creditors, and I wish you every luck with the whole process.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It really is a great place for you to share your concerns, problems and of course good news too.
Take Lesley's advice and read some of the reviews. As Michael says Declan posts on here and I'm sure will answer any general queries you may have.
I can imagine how hard it will be when you have to tell hubby everything - I was on the receiving end of the conversation a few years ago. It was a shock to realise the extent of debt, but then it was more a case of finding the solution and working together. I'm sure you'll be fine and will feel relief at not having to hide things from him.
It may help if you show him this forum and he can read posts and blogs to see you are not alone, but more importantly there is a way out.
Good luck xx

Hi minime.
youv'e taken one huge step in picking up the phone and contacting someone about your situation,
it was the same for me in july this year, I didn't know my wife had been borrowing heaverly to hid one dept from another and we were going further and further in the red each month until the point when both of our salaries didn't cover the overdraft and the phone calls started about unpaid bills and returned direct debits.
then it was more a case of what to do, not who to blame.
we are both responsible for what happened.
just got my iva accepted yesterday at the third attempt,
please believe what DFD are telling you, they will put you at ease and leave everything in their hands. I'm with them.
as swans girl has said, i'm sure your hubby will understand their is a solution to this and the relief you get from talking to your team and the posters on this site is huge.
Good luck and it's easy to say but please don't worry.

Well I finally did it. I told hubby everything last night, it was very difficult but I feel so much better. He was very supportive and didn't realise how much debt we were in and felt we were both at fault. Wish I would have told him sooner now, we may not have been quite as much in dept. We have now started planning our IVA, bank accounts ect. Contacted Melanie and DFD.
I can not wait to live off cash and have respect for money again.
This forum has been a great source of information and comfort during this last week.
I cant believe its taken 2 years for me to lift my head out of the sand and realise we have major debt problems.
Starting to feel a little positive esp with a fab hubby by my side. Although the phone calls haven't started yet !!!!

There shouldn't be any need to worry about the phone calls if or when they start. Now you've taken the first steps and have professionals on your side you can simply tell creditors that. Once you've chosen your IP firm they will give you a letter to send to each of your creditors saying don't call me, contact the IP. This won't stop the calls but it should make you feel you have someone else on your side.
After all the callers are just human beings (well most of them) who have a job to do and targets to meet. Don't be persuaded by them to make payments you can't afford and treat each of them the same on a pro rata (i.e. split by how much you owe each one) basis.
Good luck, minime!
