Hi..I've decided to go with a fee paying company to put forward my dmp. They've asked for 2 payments over the first 2 months of £750 (£1500) in total. The creditors wont receive any of this. The first payment to the creditors will be in the 3rd month. Is this noraml practice..as the initial fee seems quite high..and I'm already in arrears with some of my creditors (I really didn't want to wait another 2 months before I started paying them). Any advice?

Some firms do charge a payment for the work in setting up your DMP. Your creditors will be aware that this is happening as the company will have informed them.

This does seem a little steep though - what company are you using?

vincent bond...it does seem a lot of money..but I have heard good things about them. I'm constantly changin my mind between payplan and vb.. i must make a deciison by the end of the weekend, as one of my creditors called me at work yesterday which was very scary!!

Vincent Bond do have an excellent reputation on here. I don't know how they work out the fees, perhaps Andy will be on later with some advice on that.

With Payplan you won't pay any upfront fees, but you won't get the same service as with a fee paying company. Some posters have found that they still get hassle when using either them or CCCS.

Hi debbs hope you get sorted. Think were both in the same position. I too need to make a decision this week.Hope all goes well for you and you get it all sorted out.

Hi folks - I have recently signed up for my DMP with Andrew Graveson of Bright Oak . All I can say is that from the moment I spoke to Andrew he was warm, caring and very knowledgeable. He put my mind at rest. At the time I was considering Harrison Bond, but they started hassling me for upfront fees and this really upset me. I have just paid my first payment to Bright Oak and they set the wheels in motion straight away, all letters have gone out to my creditors and we are awaiting replies. I have not received any phone calls yet, but I am sure a few will follow shortly. All I can do at this stage is thoroughly recommend Bright Oak - Andrew and his team.

Bright Oak also have an excellent reputation on here as well, and Andrew posts on here on occasion.

I agree Andrew at Brightoak is very helpful...also gives mortgage advice for anyone who needs it.
