Yesterday I received a phone call on my mobile from MBNA First National, which is their secured loan arm. Just when I thought they were going to leave me alone! I was in a public place so I got rid of them quick. Surely they should not keep contacting me like this nearly 7 months into my IVA. I read a post on this forum a while back that David Mond who was taking them to court, would be interested to know how he got on.
I will speak to my IP about this.

Do you have a secured loan with them which you are still paying? If so, they can speak to you about that, but not any unsecured debts you have with them.

If it was to do with unsecured ones, let your IP know. If they do phone again, ask them to check the Insolvency Register for your name.

Hi
No I don't have secured loans with them. They kept trying to contact me to get me to have one when I first got into differculties. I am just fed up with MBNA ignoring that I am in an IVA.
I would have spoken to them further but I was in a public place and they caught me of guard.

Perhaps they are still trying to get you to have one! Hopefully your IP will sort this out for you.

They know where they can go at their interest rates!
Have just spoken to IP. They said if they ring again get a telephone number and reference and they will speak to them.
She said MBNA are fully aware of my debts.
It is just so annoying and I know I should'nt let it but it upsets me.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be polite with them at this stage, if they continued to phone the second word I spoke to them would be 'off'.

I hope your IP can sort this for you.

All your creditors will be aware of your IVA.

Kallis agreed...me too. Country-Girl I think they have exhausted your patience, particularly if it's upsetting you so much. Ignore the calls or put them on hold for 30 mins or just hang-up.

Thanks,
I don't normally answer my mobile to numbers I don't know but like I said this call caught me off guard, I was with someone at the time. If they ring me again I shall be ready for them!
They are a real pain are'nt they Kieser.

MBNA are classic! When I called them a couple of weeks ago to request a copy statement (to assist with my IVA Application), the guy I spoke to offered me a secured loan!! Priceless! x

Hi All

Sounds like MBNA haven't updated their database.

It's an admin error - they can't do anything with the debt included in the IVA.

Country Girl - I'm sorry that someone telephoned and that additionally, it wasn't convenient to explain your situation. IF it happens again, I would suggest that you ask to speak to a manager/supervisor and then explain you are in an IVA and get them to identify themselves and promise to get back to you to confirm they will take you of the dialler lists - taking their contact details will give you some comfort that you can get hold of them again if it isn't settled.

Best of luck for getting it sorted soon.

Hi

Thanks Debtwitch, I will do that if they call again.
