Just a quick one Natwest is replacing all Maestro cards with Visa Debit, eventually everyone will get there's but if you want one before they give you yours, pop into the branch and ask them to update your card with the new Visa Debit, this card is backed by Visa guarantee....and is accepted in more places thatn Maestro x hope this helps x Karen

Is this just Maestro Cards, I am with Natwest and have a Solo Card but it says Maestro on the back.

A Visa card again would be great

All those solo/maestro cards are updated on a roll out programme so ther is no need to contact NW, they will send the new cards out automatically.

Incidentally,they asked to upgrade the Step account, but have to do a full credit check....I kindly declined...!

I agree need more money, but they can take up to a year to send yours out, so thought it would be ok to tell others primarly because of the visa guarantee and if you are going abroad it is better than maestro. I couldnt wait for mine!!! x

OK Blonde moment again........Does this mean my solo card on my step account will be replaced with a proper visa debit card or will it be a visa electron card? This may prompt me into using my stap account instead of the easy cash account from the HAlifax

I cant fill up at my local asda because the pumps dont accept visa electron its not manned

I think it's going to depend on the first 4 numbers on the card - the Co-op is a full Visa, but the first 4 digits haven't changed meaning that some retailers view it as an Electron.

The Solo card replacements are not Electron but a 'full authorisation' Visa Debit which work in a similar way to Electron in that each transaction needs to be authorised so you won't be able to use it at the pay@pump petrol stations.

Ray if you cant wait...i couldnt x tell them your chip is a bit tempermental xx I so wanted one I know its silly but heh a full visa debit helps so much with online ect xx

The Solo card is being replaced by a debit card and it comes up as Visa Delta with some retailers, I got mine with my Natwest savings account and its viewed as the delta card not like tthe coop dressed up electron card

If the replacement for the Solo is a full authorisation card it will still work in the same way as a Visa Electron, i.e. can't be used at pay at the pump, automated ticket machines etc.
