You can take a payment break for a genuine reason, ie. washing machine breaks, car needs a repair, with the agreement of your IP. However you will need to provide receipts for this extra expense & missed payments will be added to the end or your monthly payment increased to make up for this.

You cannot take a "holiday payment" as such just because you fancy a bit of extra cash though!

If you are struggling, talk to your IP.

Totally agree.

If you have a problem you need to address it with your IP, otherwise you will have to carry on paying. You are only allowed to miss three payments in total (without prior arrangement) before your IVA fails.

Hi

If you are saying you want to have a holiday then I think the answer is no. The IVA lifestyle is of sackcloth and ashes. Or try to get the cheap hols out of the sun or other sources.

I am looking at trying to get a holiday next year if possible. Our IVA is a six year one and started in feb.

I was lucky enough to go away this year courtesy of daughter.

If you can manage to save anything from your allowances then you can go on holiday.

I am assuming thought that Laura is asking if she can take a payment break.

I've had a few believe me and my first one was as soon as my IVA was accepted, new washing machine, boiler repairs, brothers funeral expenses, to name but a few things that have been on my plate in my short journey, I increase my payment each month and keep a tab of how I'm doing, *touches wood* if nothing else goes wrong I will finish paying my arrears January 2011...not long then!
