OK this is difficult. Debts probably totalling 350K, maybe more with interest and charges etc. secured and unsecured in both mine and my wife's name. CCJ's registered against us. Interest only mortgage and 2nd secured loan on property. Others too numerous to list here. Also my wife is foreign national needing to apply for ILR next year in July. Earnings only around 15K per annum now combined. Any help out there?????

Hi,
I think you need to speak to a professional about this as it does sound a bit complicated.
Visit
www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews. Give one or two a ring and you will receive free and impartial advice as to all the options open to you and the best way forward for your circumstances.

Hi there Chris and welcome to the forum - especially for having the courage to make that first post.
Your income to debt ratio does look quite low now, but that does not mean there will not be a solution out there for you. There will!
Rather than post lengthy details of your circumstances on a public forum, I would recommend an early chat with an insolvency practitioner who can assess your situation and advise as to solutions.
Please keep us in touch with your progress, and the very best of luck in your search for professional assistance.

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum,
There will be help for you, please take the advice offered and contact some professionals. It can be quite daunting at first, but once you've explained all the details, you'll get the best advice.
The professionals who post on here have great reputations, why not get in touch with a couple and see what they say. You have nothing to lose.
Good luck and please keep us updated.

Hi Chris, and well played for having the guts to ask for help. The advice so far is spot on - speak to an IP, not an IVA company rep, but an IP themselves. Have as much detail to hand as you can and you'll get good clear advice on your options.
You could do a great deal worse than starting off making an appointment for a chat with Melanie (above) - her reputation is outstanding and she knows the field inside and out. I also unerstand from others on this site that her team are exceptional.
Goood luck in finding the right solution for you, and let us know how you get on,
Martin

You will find that it is difficult to speak to an IP directly when you make your first enquiries. Even Melanie's company has office staff who answer the phone and start the ball rolling.
Whilst you will speak to Melanie if you choose her company, it is unlikely to be on an initial call.

I actually do a lot of intitial calls to potential clients Jan - especially to people who contact me at my office directly.
