i am in an IVA and have been for the last 3 years now, i have recieved various letters from different people saying that i have been mis-sold my IVA these include the iva council and a company called uk re-start, both have said that i should have been advised bankruptcy as have no assets, im now very confused and worried as i dont what to think, i would like to go to college next year but dont know how this would work, pls help

These people are vultures who scour the insolvency register for people and then write to them to try and say you have been mis-sold your IVA. Only you know this - and if you are happy with your IVA then take no notice of them at all

Ignore these companies and pass the letters to your IP. If your IVA has been running three years it was clearly a proper proposal that you have maintained. These companies basically charge you £1,000 to fill out the bankruptcy papers and leave you then to sort out the mess. If you do petition now you could be subject to an Income Payments Order [IPO] for another three years which is madness when you only have two years left on your IVA.

There have been a number of threads about these companies and if you are in doubt go to the Insolvency Service website where there a number of warnings posted about companies such as these.

I think at some stage Pixxie we've all had the letters and they are just not worth reading to be honest, send them to your IP or to Size5 as requested and hopefully one day who knows we may get rid of them.

thanks guys, feel better now i know i'm not the only one getting these letters, i will send them to you Size5 if i can find them though i may have filed them in the bin!! does anyone know if can go to college when on an IVA, im looking at a part time course but don't know how the fees would work or is it's even possible, any ideas??

We've all had these pixxie - best just to ignore them as they don't have your best interests at heart - they are just looking to line their own pockets at your expense.

If you are happy with your IVA, then continue with it. If you have any problems at any time then just come on here and you will receive all the advice and support you need.

But when are the OFT going to step in and stop these practices - of which they are more than fully aware. This is a real intrusion into someone's privacy and ought to be stamped out immediately.

I wish they would hurry up and do so.

Not only is it an intrusion, it is designed to fleece as many people as possible out of money they cannot afford to pay.

I would imagine that you would have to pay the college fees out of your allowances.

These people are nothing but spammers and if they send you a reply paid envelope, do what another poster does and send it back with toe nail clippings or hoover dust or other such lovelies inside....see how they like their unsolicited mail then (evil)!

Cath - that is positively evil!!!! (But I like it - and you do have the perfect hoover to be able to comply!!!)

I send them a really strict letter always demanding a reply and advising them I'm on MPS etc., and to date have had a reply each time, apologising and to date *touches wood* not had any further letters.
