can i still take out an iva if i am self employed running my own business

Hi Kelly, yes you can take out an IVA if you're self-employed, you would need a face to face meeting with an IP I do believe.

Take a look at www.iva.com for a list of companies and some reviews if you feel you would like to talk to some professionals. I would suggest talking to 2 or 3 companies to get some free impartial advice specific to you.

Do take time to visit the site recommended, and definitely talk to 2 or 3 people before you make your next move, but there is always an answer, it just depends what it is.

IVAs were originally created with the self-employed specifically in mind, so they are ideal for people running their own businesses. Some insolvency firms will not, however, deal with this type of case, so it is better to choose someone who specialises in this area and has a good track record.
