does any one know what type of debit card the coop cashminder account offers. Is it a visa debit or solo?

It's a Visa Debit, but for some reason it cannot be used at pay at the pump petrol stations.

Hi
I think that it is still a type of electron card as sometimes I have been unable to pay for items online with it, although this has been very few and far between

It's to do with the card number starting 4508 - this used to be an Electron number but has now been changed to Visa Debit.

Not all shops and websites have changed their systems to accommodate this.

We just got our cards for our new current account with Co-op - they are Visa Debit but haven't used them yet as waiting for PIN numbers

I am with the Co-op and my card used to be an awful Visa Electron, but now its a full Visa Debit card, so no problems.

Mine is also a visa debit but sometimes when I pay I notice on the receipt that it still says visa electron, so I think it's still an electron card in disguise!!

Andy - you sometimes find that if you can't pay with your card online, phone the company up and you can usually do it over the phone.

my co op one is visa electron , if i use it more than twice in one day ( which is very rare) it wont be accepted. it got refused in a pet shop buying some food for the hounds , fortunately my mum was there and she paid . worse thing was the money was in the account . we have had our account there since last feb ! natwest and hsbc still going strong thou.... mind i just had a nice looking prepasid mastercard. i changed from rcn union to unison and its a unison card, no withdrawal fees, no charge for the card, costs 90p a month. shame i have nothing to load onto it thou !!! and hubby had prepaid o2 , thats a good one.

Surprised you have an HSBC account still open - they are usually one of the first to close them down.

I'd contact the Co-op about that Molly - when I had the Electron I often used it a few times in one day without any problems.

skippy , i dont think the coop like us . they sent us a letter giving us 28 days to close our accounts.... i rang them up to ask why and apparantly we keep going over drawn ... it transpires that they take debits before ccredit. where my salary ges in on 27th month, most bills go out . they told me as the mney wasnt there they day before i keep going overdrawn ,. my husnads salary goes in every thursday , and we have direct debits set uo different times so we are never left with a week of no money, i didnt realise money was supposed to b in day before , o have had to change payment dates but al is well now . saying that i do prefer my natwest account whic i was given with an overdrftlimit, hence as soon as iva up and running i practically had to beg them to take it off, and steve prefers his hsbc. we couldnt make eithr of these joint due to credit scoring, well hsbc refused to put me on his accont, may try natwest .... they can only say no ....
